Travel Journal : Acadia National Park

Image
Check me out on social media  Instagram  and  Facebook  ! As my ongoing efforts to capture all my photography trips with my thoughts, I'm posting this blog about trip to Acadia National Park. Acadia is a beautiful national park and landscape photographer's dream! Bar Harbor is nearby for accommodations and great food! Enjoy some postcards!

Snowscapes : Black and White

Image
Check me out on social media  Instagram  and  Facebook  !  Winter just started here in Michigan with good amount of snow already on the ground. I'm combining all my snow landscapes shots over the years to showcase the beauty of the snow covered land. It just feels so serene and calm, of course hiking through the woods to shoot pictures felt exactly the opposite! I prefer shooting the snow covered in landscapes in black and white and mostly on film because B&W removes all the distractions and film cameras hold up better with no electronics in the cold! Enjoy!

Winter Lanscapes

Image
I shot these pictures two months ago and finally developed them! Both are shot using Mamiya RZ67 ProII + Sekor Z110 f/2.8 on Fuji Neopan 100. I have started appreciating the Mamiya for sharp negatives it produces. Hope to do more with the camera as the weather gets better!

Travel Journal Rocky Mountains National Park

Image
Check me out on social media  Instagram  and  Facebook  ! Rocky mountains national park is one of the best nation parks I have ever been to and I've been to quite a few of them! The landscapes, the hikes and the look out spots are simply gorgeous! We also visited Pike's peak and the drive up there is a very interesting experience! Enjoy the pictures!

Summer Time in Northern Michigan

Image
Check me out on social media  Instagram  and  Facebook  !  Michigan landscapes in summer are something else! Blue skies, crystal clear fresh water lakes, big clouds make for perfect postcards! Northern Michigan especially is unevenly blessed with nature beauty and it's certainly one of my favorite spots to shoot landscapes! There are also many wineries where you can taste/buy the delicious Michigan wines! The food scene is getting better! I like to visit the same spots whenever possible as the familiarity of the locations helps me take better and interesting view points that I would miss as a one time visitor! Enjoy these postcards!  Lake Superior National Lake Shore Under the big Mac Serene Lake Superior Tahquamenon Falls Summer Beach at Leland

Travel Journal : Zion and Bryce

Image
Check me out on social media  Instagram  and  Facebook  ! I have been to Zion and Bryce national parks twice so far. They are absolutely gorgeous and it's difficult to shoot a bad pictures there! They are massive and each park needs a few days to truly explore it. Zion has other surrounding areas like Wire Pass and Toadstools that are also very picturesque. Travel Journal : Alaska

Image
Check me out on social media  Instagram  and  Facebook  ! I've been meaning to write a blurb about the Alaska trip. Finally getting to it now! We did the Alaska trip in 2017 and it was truly an amazing experience. We visited Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Anchorage, Kenai Fjords and surrounding areas. The whole state is very picturesque. Mount Denali is truly majestic and we were lucky to catch a glimpse of the peak (apparently it's not easy to see the peak as there is usually a cloud cover). I found the food scene in Alaska to be surprisingly good! Some pictures from Denali National Park and scenic drives near Seward and Anchorage.

Travel Journal : Santorini, Greece

Image
I love traveling and photographing the places I visit. In my early travels, I used to carry pretty much all the gear that I owned because "I didn't want to miss out". I have definitely grown from this position to carry minimal essential gear and be more efficient in my travels. Santorini is one of the bigger Greek Islands. All of them are beautiful. Getting to Santorini/Thera from Detroit wasn't easy. My wife and I had to switch three planes from Detroit->Frankfurt->Athens->Santorini. The place was well worth it! It's absolutely gorgeous and serene. We stayed in Imerovigli part of the island, which is a bit more family friendly than other party hubs. My wife and hiked a lot and I carried my Olympus E-5 with 7-14mm lens and took landscape photos along the hike. This one is one my absolute favorites! The vast view of the Aegean sea along with nestled white buildings make this a quintessential view of the island. This is what I came for! The next d

Velvia!

Image
Velvia is special for me. Of all the color slides I have shot with, the result Velvia produces amazes me everytime. In Velvia blues, reds and greens especially stand out. It can be a little too contrasty for portraits but for landscapes it is perfect. The results are very consistent even with the home development of E-6 using rapid kits. I develop all my E-6s with using my Jobo CPE-2 either with Tetenal or Arista rapid kits (pictured below). I'll post a detailed development process soon. I don't print from my slides so I just scan them with Epson V700 and digitize. Although scanning doesn't do justice to the richness of the slides but it is acceptable, given my small investment in equipments. I feel every film photographer should experience Velvia goodness at least once!   Velvia development in progress using Jobo CPE-2 Sinar F 4x5, Horseman 6x12, Velvia 50 Mamiya RZ67 ProII, Velvia 50 Hasselblad 500C, Velvia 50 Mamiya RZ67 ProII, Velvia 50 Calumet 4x5
